Association of Contemporary Hypnotherapy Psychotherapy & Counselling
FAQ's

Why choose a hypnotherapist from our register?

It is important for anyone undergoing therapy that the therapist has had a thorough and high level of training. At the moment there is little guidance as to what is considered a “safe” level of competency in a practitioners.

Our register is only made up of people who have had extensive training hours, who have completed a practical examination (demonstrating a full session of therapy) and who have gained indemnity insurance and who are committed to continued professional development.

All named therapist have done courses in line with the Occupational Standards in Hypnotherapy that were designed by the Government to begin to set standards in training.

How can I be sure that the therapist I am going to see would be the right one for me?

All our therapists on the register have met a certain standard of competency and are professional as well as human.

It is best to speak to the person first to see if you feel that they are someone that you feel comfortable and confident with.

It is important that you and your therapist have excellent rapport (a positive and comfortable relationship). Our therapists respect this and know that this is vital for “effective therapy” to occur.

All our therapists will come with their own unique personalities and so it is important that you find someone that you feel you can explore what you need to explore.

Can I get hypnotherapy on the NHS?

Yes, if your doctor refers you to a hypnotherapist.
