Code Of Ethics

All practising members undertake:

  1. To provide treatment consistent with and attentive to, a duty of care and within their knowledge, competence and experience.

  2. To hold Public Liability Insurance.

  3. To complete a course of treatment in every case as soon as possible and to take all reasonable steps to ensure the safety of the client and those accompanying them.

  4. To maintain strict confidentiality during and after treatment.

  5. To recommend, where the client’s condition may well have a physical basis or cause, that the client seeks medical advice first.

  6. Never to use the position of trust and confidence to exploit the client in any way whatsoever.

  7. Never to offer a promise of “cure” for any condition.

  8. Not give any performance or display that presents hypnosis as a means of entertainment (e.g. Stage Hypnosis). 

  9. To be aware of the contraindications regarding the different hypnotic interventions.

  10. To report any irregularity that arises with the client/therapist relationship and where appropriate to cease treatment and/or refer the client to another therapist.

  11. To obtain permission from the client before the audio or video recording of any part of a session can take place.
